Donation solidifies support

15 Nov 2022

MANY years and hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of support for the FNQ community, was solidified at a special cheque handover this week.
Representatives from the Commonwealth Bank handed over a special CommBank Staff Foundation Community Grant to the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, towards its “Into the Future” project.
The grant came about through the Commonwealth Bank’s Staff Foundation community grants program where employees nominate community organisations they are passionate about supporting.
Paul Fowler, Executive General Manager of Regional and Agribusiness Banking at the Commonwealth Bank said: “The CommBank Staff Foundation is committed to driving positive change in the community by supporting the causes CBA staff are most passionate about.
“We’re proud to support the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation who are creating a brighter future in the community.”
Foundation CEO Gina Hogan said the support was the latest in a long line of campaigns, donations and projects.
“From walking the Kokoda Track, to holding golf days, riding in the QSuper Cardiac Challenge and many other fundraisers, Commonwealth Bank have been huge supporters of ours,” Mrs Hogan said.
“We believe the Bank’s support of the Foundation is more than $170, 000, including this latest support and we’re very grateful for their ongoing recognition of what we do,” she said.
The $10, 000 grant will be used towards the Foundation’s “future-proofing” project in which key staff will be provided laptops in order to work remotely as needed.
“During COVID-19, we all learned that the ability to work remotely was essential. Moving on from COVID-19, we all have sick children or we might have other reasons to work from home remotely. This grant will enable our team to do that securely and efficiently while maintaining productivity and connectedness with the rest of the team.
“We’re very grateful to the Bank for its support of our projects over many years and it’s wonderful that we are front-of-mind for the local staff,” she said.
