Social Enterprises

The FNQHF runs a variety of social enterprises including cafes, coffee kiosk and catering services that contribute to living healthier for longer.

A social enterprise is a business that operates to address social problems or improve communities or the environment. At the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, our Seabreeze Café is a prime example of this.

Profits generated from our social enterprise cover our operating costs, allowing us to maximise the impact of charitable donations. This means that every donation we receive can go even further in supporting critical health services and initiatives, from advanced medical equipment to patient care programs.

In 2023, the Seabreeze Café played a vital role during the floods and pandemic by ensuring Health Service staff received nutritious meals. We’re proud of the support we’ve received which is helping us expand our services, such as introducing fresh food vending machines to provide nutritious options for staff and visitors after hours.

These enterprises are a simple yet powerful way to help us provide state-of-the-art equipment, vital training, and much-needed support across all 66 public hospitals and health care centres in FNQ.

Together, we’re not just funding health care; we’re transforming it, making sure that quality care is always close to home for everyone in our community.
