THEY might be kooky. And they might be spooky. But The Addams Family are going to help sick kids in Cairns Hospital.
Event Cinemas, major supporter of the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, are hosting their annual exclusive movie screening on November 23, with all funds raised locally, staying local.
Foundation Fundraising and Marketing Manager Glenys Duncombe said Event Hospitality and Entertainment had supported the Foundation since 2015.
“That’s been through charity movie screenings such as this, payroll deductions, trivia nights, gold coin donations and the company matching donations,” Ms Duncombe said.
“Incredibly, in that time, we’ve received more than $67, 000 from this generous company and their staff,” she said.
Those funds have gone towards a training paediatric mannequin, neonatal resuscitation warmer television for the adolescent area, burns bath in the children’s ward as well as contributing towards the $1.2 million Paediatric Playground. This year, the company is working towards buying central monitoring systems for the children’s ward at Cairns Hospital.
Event Hospitality and Entertainment, Regional Queensland Marketing Manager Deanne Clark said the company and staff were thrilled to be supporting such a meaningful initiative.
“This is rolling out across Australia but the three cinemas in Cairns – Smithfield, Central and Earlville, are all supporting the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation,” Ms Clark said.
“Tickets cost just $12 each and it’s a great way to spend some fun time with the family while supporting other local families – perhaps even your own,” she said.
