WHAT do an accountant, a road builder, a car yard, a radio station, a cruise line, and renovation experts have in common? This Sunday, they are all coming together to sponsor the BDO Arrow Experience, uniting their unique talents and community spirit for an unforgettable event raising funds for a public surgical robot for FNQ.
The event, hosted by the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation, is in its fifth year and raising funds for surgical equipment that will enhance precision, reduce recovery times and improve outcomes for patients across the region.
Foundation Fundraising and Marketing Manager Glenys Duncombe said the event was on track to raise more than $60,000 towards the Donate for DaNi campaign.
She paid tribute to the many sponsors who had supported the event, including BDO North Queensland, FGF, Audi Centre Cairns and Star 102.7 Cairns.
As well, she thanked Coral Expeditions for donating a spectacular cruise to Raja Ampat and the Spice Islands, and Status Plus for donating a $15,000 voucher to be used instore, towards the raffle.
“We’re going to draw the raffle at the event, we’ve sold more than 7000 tickets in the raffle, so three people are going to walk away with some amazing prizes, including $5000 worth of fuel,” Ms Duncombe said.
“We also have more than 90 people signed up to participate in the event on Sunday – people can still sign up and fundraise,” she said.
BDO North Queensland CEO Stacey Young said her team was looking forward to the event.
“Best of all, there is still time to register. The event is a great opportunity to gather with family, friends and co-workers while supporting the Hospital Foundation to raise funds for the Donate for DaNi surgical robot. We look forward to celebrating teams as they finish the walk with a chance to spin the BDO prize wheel,” Mrs Young said.
Coral Expeditions team captain Tilly Wickramasekera said the company was proud to have supported the Foundation for the past three years with cruise donations.
“This wonderful cause helps provide support and medical care for our community and those living in the remote areas around us,” Ms Wickramasekera said.
“Our team is eager for the Arrows walk this weekend; it will be a great opportunity for fun and fitness together while supporting a great cause.”
Thanks also to FGF, Audi Centre Cairns, Status Plus, Avis Car Rental and Star 102.7 Cairns.
